Keri Leigh Merritt is a historian and writer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the author of Masterless Men: Poor Whites and Slavery in the Antebellum South, and co-editor, with Matthew Hild, of Reconsidering Southern Labor History: Race, Class, and Power.
