Martha is part of the Maryhouse Catholic Worker community and has been active with the Witness Against Torture campaign. Martha is currently in Kabul representing Voices for Creative Nonviolence (www.vcnv.org) as a guest of the Afghan Peace Volunteers.

Wedding Roses in Kabul
Outside the windows of the room where I sleep, here in Kabul, the Afghan Peace Volunteer (APV) women’s community maintains a small walled garden filled with roses. Seeking Security in Afghanistan
This week, in Washington, D.C., Presidents Obama and Karzai will discuss a proposed Bilateral Security Agreement between Afghanistan and the United States. Presumably, they’ll note some of the main security problems Afghanistan faces.
