DSA Responds to Crisis in Venezuela
WASHINGTON - The National Political Committee, the elected leadership body of the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America), has put out the following statement:
U.S. sanctions against Maduro to "make the economy scream" are unequivocally illegal according to both U.S. and international law and have contributed to unimaginable suffering by the Venezuelan people. The economic, political and cultural crisis there is complex, but a U.S. driven coup is totally unacceptable and just the latest in a long history of U.S.-backed coups in the region showing blatant contempt not just for democracy but also for national sovereignty.
