tens of millions of Americans facing double-digit hikes in their health care
premiums, the U.S. Public Interest
Research Group
applauds President Obama's decision to move forward
with a health care package that
embraces new cost containment ideas from Republicans
and Democrats.

sensible compromise takes the steps American families and small businesses

members of Congress, and reins in skyrocketing costs.

a year of constant partisan debate, it's high time each and every member
of Congress stop just talking about rising health costs and actually do
something to address it."

Independent media has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies.   Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook.  Never before has independent media been more endangered.  If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support our critical Winter campaign now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing.
