Because irony is dead and these people are vauntingly shameless, dime-store Goebbels and hate-mongering "son of Nosferatu" Stephen Miller, the ghoul who ripped thousands of terrified immigrant kids from their parents, just went on Fox to call Biden's immigration policies - wait for it - "cruel" and "inhumane," maybe because in their first month lawyers have found 105 of about 600 missing parents. Once they find the rest, and if there's a God, may She please put this creep on trial in The Hague.

Because irony is dead and these people are vauntingly shameless, dime-store Goebbels and hate-mongering "son of Nosferatu" Stephen Miller, the ghoul largely responsible for ripping still-untold thousands of terrified immigrant kids from their parents, just went on Fox News to tell Laura Ingraham, she of the forever-furrowed brow, that Joe Biden's immigration policies are - wait for it - "cruel" and "inhumane." With the White House where he no longer works his racist magic inexplicably looming as backdrop, the guy so reviled that news of him getting COVID prompted astonishment at the first known case of human to demon transmission ranted that Biden "took a secure border, a humane border, a safe border" and started "forcing thousands of young children into the arms of smugglers" and "children are being taken away from their families" (WTF) and "those countries are being deprived of their future" and "that is cruel, that is inhumane." America was quick to respond, "The only thing cruel & inhumane is having Stephen Miller's face on my tv." Many more chimed in: Miller is "the one demon Buffy the Vampire Killer never got to," he's "Dracula charging the Red Cross is stealing blood," "all his power is out & he's only visible by gaslight." Also, "They lured him there with a tasty baby," "We're about 5 minutes away from Miller claiming Joe Biden owns a hotel and that should disqualify him from being president," and, "Irony is digging itself out of the grave to drag Miller back to his home in the underworld."
Back on Planet Earth, meanwhile, came gut-wrenching but hopeful news. After four years of honest-to-fascist cruelty and inhumanity, with headlines about what was purportedly our government "losing track" of 1,500 children and then more children and then oh yeah several thousand parents they'd failed to track, Biden is creating a task force to reunite all those lost and suffering souls and, after just one month, a team of pro-bono lawyers and advocates has found 105 of 611 missing parents. Still, the fallout from the unholy debacle is daunting: Lawyers concede about 320 of the 506 remaining parents are believed to have been deported, making it that much more difficult to find them. But lawyers, including those from the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project, vow to work with the task force to follow all leads; they also hope Biden will commit to bringing those parents they find back to the U.S. to reunite with their kids under special new protections - surely the least we can do. Multiple lawsuits have now been filed by multiple advocacy groups in response to still-emerging stories of the horrors endured and trauma inflicted. Says one advocate, "This was straight-out child abuse by the United States government." Leading the monstrous charge was Bat Boy, Nazi wannabe, creepy Stephen Miller himself. Once the parents are found and the suits are settled and the thugs are rounded up, if there's a God and She's not too busy, may he land on trial in The Hague.

Second cousins Goebbels and Miller
Dear Common Dreams reader, It’s been nearly 30 years since I co-founded Common Dreams with my late wife, Lina Newhouser. We had the radical notion that journalism should serve the public good, not corporate profits. It was clear to us from the outset what it would take to build such a project. No paid advertisements. No corporate sponsors. No millionaire publisher telling us what to think or do. Many people said we wouldn't last a year, but we proved those doubters wrong. Together with a tremendous team of journalists and dedicated staff, we built an independent media outlet free from the constraints of profits and corporate control. Our mission has always been simple: To inform. To inspire. To ignite change for the common good. Building Common Dreams was not easy. Our survival was never guaranteed. When you take on the most powerful forces—Wall Street greed, fossil fuel industry destruction, Big Tech lobbyists, and uber-rich oligarchs who have spent billions upon billions rigging the economy and democracy in their favor—the only bulwark you have is supporters who believe in your work. But here’s the urgent message from me today. It's never been this bad out there. And it's never been this hard to keep us going. At the very moment Common Dreams is most needed, the threats we face are intensifying. We need your support now more than ever. We don't accept corporate advertising and never will. We don't have a paywall because we don't think people should be blocked from critical news based on their ability to pay. Everything we do is funded by the donations of readers like you. When everyone does the little they can afford, we are strong. But if that support retreats or dries up, so do we. Will you donate now to make sure Common Dreams not only survives but thrives? —Craig Brown, Co-founder |
