350.org on Latest National Survey on Climate Change and the American Public

WASHINGTON

Today the Yale Program on Climate Communication and George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication released their latest national survey, which finds that a vast majority of Americans care about climate change. Polled in late 2018, the report shows that about 73% of Americans believe the climate change is happening.

In response, 350.org executive director May Boeve said,

"Despite Big Oil's ongoing multi-billion dollar deception campaign, people across America are bearing the real costs of the climate crisis, so it's no surprise we're more concerned than ever. This is an important moment to educate and organize our communities because we should not have to sit in fear of the next climate impact, such as stronger hurricanes, superstorms, heatwaves or year-round fire seasons, that would devastate our livelihoods. Together, we are demanding that elected officials at all levels step up on climate action and push forward federal legislation such as the Green New Deal that creates millions of family-sustaining jobs while transitioning our economy to 100% renewables. We're ready to work collectively to demand the climate justice we deserve."

350 is building a future that's just, prosperous, equitable and safe from the effects of the climate crisis. We're an international movement of ordinary people working to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy for all.
