Trump Bets Against Voters: Ignores Russia's Attack on Our Democracy
Statement of Common Cause President Karen Hobert Flynn
WASHINGTON - President Trump bet against the American people tonight. He is wagering Americans will forget our democracy was attacked by Russia and that his administration has done nothing to prevent further attack. He believes we will overlook his attempt to obstruct the investigation into his campaign and administration's connections to Russia.
Americans will not forget we were attacked. We will protect Robert Mueller's independent investigation, and demand full transparency and that those who violated our laws will be held accountable. The Republican Congressional leadership is fast becoming complicit in Trump's obvious obstruction of justice. Congress must put country over party as every American has a right to know what happened when we were attacked and that it won't happen again.

FRIENDS: Help Us Fight
Independent journalism has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support us now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing. Thank you. -- Craig Brown, Co-founder
