Reps. Conyers & Khanna Challenge Congress With Medicare For All Pledge

WASHINGTON

Leading the Democratic Party from the left, Rep. John Conyers (MI-13) and Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17) on Friday are challenging all members of Congress to take the Stand Up for Medicare Pledge and commit to actively advocating for single payer healthcare.

The pledge started in March as a petition, launched by Justice Democrats in support of the Conyers-authored Medicare for All bill (H.R. 676). In the months since, it has gained the backing of more than 100,000 Americans.

As Republicans flounder in their efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare, there are now 115 congressional co-sponsors of the bill demanding Healthcare For All.

At a Friday press conference near Capitol Hill, Conyers and Khanna will publicly take the pledge as they push every member of Congress to stand for Medicare for All.

Pledge Text:

"I, ______, pledge to the voters of the ______ district of the state of ______, and to every American that I will:

Stand up for Medicare for All in any public appearances and statements addressing our country's healthcare crisis."
