PUC Decision Will Cripple Solar Growth in Maine

Statement from Nisha Swinton, Senior Organizer for Food & Water Watch:

Statement from Nisha Swinton, Senior Organizer for Food & Water Watch:

"The PUC's decision to phase out retail net metering will cripple Maine's rooftop solar industry. Net metering is one of the most effective policies we have for expanding rooftop solar, which is why fossil fuel addicts like Governor LePage and the Koch brothers have been working to eliminate it. The legislature must act to protect the expansion of rooftop solar in Maine by passing legislation that would allow retail net metering to continue and remove all caps on its expansion."

Food & Water Watch mobilizes regular people to build political power to move bold and uncompromised solutions to the most pressing food, water, and climate problems of our time. We work to protect people's health, communities, and democracy from the growing destructive power of the most powerful economic interests.
