Greenpeace Responds to Judge's Ruling that Keystone XL Must Undergo New Environmental Review

WASHINGTON

Today, Greenpeace USA responded to a judge's ruling that TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline must undergo a new environmental review by the U.S. State Department.

"No matter how much the Trump administration wants Keystone XL to be built, the ill-fated pipeline is still far from a done deal," said Greenpeace USA Climate and Energy Campaigner, Diana Best. "Banks and investors backing this project should take a hard look at the risks still on the horizon for this project. TransCanada still has not made a final investment decision on this project. The judge was right to order another environmental review as this project would worsen the effects of climate change, risk poisoning water, and violate Indigenous sovereignty. The only thing clear about the future of this pipeline is that it will continue to face delays, scrutiny, and uncertainty."
