CODEPINK Celebrates Goldman Sachs Takeover of U.S. Treasury!

Joins Goldman Sachs in thanking Congress and American people for $850 billion bailout

After Friday's $850 billion bailout, CODEPINK will set up an "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT" banner outside the Treasury to "celebrate" how Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street companies are now in charge of our nation's finances, with the understanding that "what's good for Wall St is good for America."

WHEN: 12 noon, Monday, Oct. 6
WHERE: Outside Treasury Department, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave NW, next to White House, Washington DC

"We were against the bailout at first, but we have come to understand the logic of it," says CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin. "Doggone it, if we didn't give our money to Wall Street, it might be used for health care or education or other frivolous expenses."

A super-sized version of Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson will be on hand to join in the celebration.

"As a former CEO of Goldman Sachs, it warms my heart-and my wallet-to see my friends get generously rewarded for their greed," Paulson said."After all, greed is an economic stimulus and right now, we need all the stimulation we can get!"

CODEPINK is a women-led grassroots organization working to end U.S. wars and militarism, support peace and human rights initiatives, and redirect our tax dollars into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming programs.
