Sierra Club Independent Action (SCIA) Launches Spanish Radio Ads in Las Vegas Hitting Heck on Climate and Trump

LAS VEGAS, NV.

Sierra Club Independent Action (SCIA) launched Spanish-language radio ads on two major Las Vegas radio stations today. The ads encourage voters to go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8th, and reject pro-Trump U.S. Senate candidate Joe Heck and support environmental champion Catherine Cortez Masto, and specifically call out Heck and Trump for their climate denial.

"The Sierra Club is doing everything we can to make sure that Nevada voters know that Trump ally Joe Heck is a climate denier just like Trump, and should not be promoted to the U.S. Senate" said Sierra Club National Political Director Khalid Pitts. "For months, Heck has supported Donald Trump, who dedicated his first campaign speech to insulting Latinos, calling them 'criminals' and 'rapists.' Another thing Heck and Trump have in common is a radical anti-environmental agenda based on climate science denial and promoting dirty fuels by all means necessary, while ignoring the disproportionate consequences of pollution in Latino communities."

"We proudly support Catherine Cortez Masto because she will fight for good solar jobs in Nevada, encourage our transition toward a clean energy economy, stand up to the polluters who poison our air and water, and protect Nevada's vast and unique public lands."

The SCIA ads will run on KISF-FM and KRGT-FM in Las Vegas from today, Oct. 31st through Nov. 6th.

"For months, Joe Heck has supported Trump, the same one who called us Latinos 'criminals' and 'rapists'," the ad's narrator reads in Spanish. "He and his friend Trump also deny the existence of climate change, which disproportionately punishes Latinos. Vote for Catherine Cortez Masto, a Latina who will fight in the US Senate for the creation of good jobs and against the polluters who punish us all."

The Sierra Club is the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. We amplify the power of our 3.8 million members and supporters to defend everyone's right to a healthy world.
