January 6 Committee Shows Donald Trump Threatened DOJ Officials In Desperate Attempt to Overturn the 2020 Election

Hearings show that Trump pushed wild conspiracy theories in his illegal attempt to reverse his loss.

WASHINGTON
Today, the House Select Committee to Investigate January 6th questioned former Department of Justice (DOJ) officials about President Donald Trump's efforts to pressure the Department to back his false claims of electoral fraud and meddle in the 2020 election.
Stand Up America's Managing Director for Policy and Political Affairs, Brett Edkins, issued the following response:

"In its fifth hearing, the January 6 Committee once again showed that President Trump left no stone unturned in his desperate, illegal bid to stay in power. Trump told DOJ officials to 'just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the [Republican] congressmen.' When DOJ officials refused to go along with Trump's criminal plot, the president threatened to replace the Acting Attorney General with an unqualified legal lapdog who had promised to do his bidding.

"President Trump was the ringleader of the conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election, and he knew his actions--strong-arming the Vice President, state election officials, and Justice Department leaders, and inciting violence--were illegal. Holding him and his fellow conspiracists in Congress and across the country accountable is vital to ensure this never happens again."
