Patriotic Millionaires Endorse First US Senate Candidates And More House Challengers

"These candidates will champion working people, and they won’t sell the power of their office to the highest bidder"

WASHINGTON

This afternoon, the Patriotic Millionaires announced their endorsement of two US Senate candidates, and several more challengers running for the US House of Representatives in 2020.

Correcting serious disparities in the economy, our justice system, and our political institutions is simply not possible with the current balance of power in Washington. With these endorsements, we offer our support to candidates who will stand firm on the principles of fairness and opportunity, and against the big-money special interests with seemingly limitless resources set aside to corrupt our democracy.

The endorsed candidates listed below represent good opportunities to throw terrible members of Congress out of power, but our endorsement comes because we have determined each and every one has earned their place to serve the public good. For their dedication to fighting for all Americans, not just the rich and powerful, the following candidates have earned our endorsement in the 2020 cycle:

Cal Cunningham (NC-SEN)
Abby Broyles (OK-SEN)
Celeste Williams (AR-03)
Phil Arballo (CA-22)
Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07)
Dani Brzozowski (IL-16)
Josh Hicks (KY-06)
Kara Eastman (NE-02)
Christina Finello (PA-01)
Kristy Gnibus (PA-16)

This is the fourth round of 2020 endorsements from the Patriotic Millionaires. A list of our previous endorsements this cycle can be viewed on our website HERE. Over the next several months we will be endorsing more high-quality candidates.

We are excited to include our first US Senate candidates. After years of outright hostility towards the interests of working people, the current Senate majority has no case to make to the American people. They must be replaced, and we will join in this massive undertaking with millions of Americans who believe in a better future for our country.

"Our group has said it from the beginning - economic inequality is dangerously destabilizing, especially when those in public office are inattentive to the needs of ordinary people," said Morris Pearl, Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires, and former managing director at BlackRock. "All of us, especially people who work for a living, need a drastic change, and we're not going to get the change we need with the current balance of power in Washington. We need new faces and new priorities, and this incredible group of candidates promises to be exactly what their constituents, and all of us, need."

"We are honored and excited to be endorsed by Patriotic Millionaires," said Kara Eastman, candidate for Congress in Nebraska's 2nd District. "I am happy to be able to join with them in the fight for income equality, campaign finance reform, and a more fair and just tax system."

"I'm so proud to be endorsed by the Patriotic Millionaires. For too long, our tax policy has helped an elite few and left hardworking families behind. This is especially true in Oklahoma, where the minimum wage hasn't changed in over a decade" said Abby Broyles, candidate for US Senate. "Financial inequality in our country has never been more apparent than during the COVID-19 pandemic as workers have sacrificed their own health to keep the world running."

"Unlike the incumbents they're running against, these candidates will champion working people, and they won't sell the power of their office to the highest bidder," said Erica Payne, President and Founder of the Patriotic Millionaires. "It's time to throw the bad apples out of Congress, and get this country on track."

The Patriotic Millionaires is a group of high-net worth Americans who share a profound concern about the destabilizing level of inequality in America. Our work centers on the two things that matter most in a capitalist democracy: power and money. Our goal is to ensure that the country's political economy is structured to meet the needs of regular Americans, rather than just millionaires. We focus on three "first" principles: a highly progressive tax system, a livable minimum wage, and equal political representation for all citizens.
