THURSDAY: 'No War' Day of Action To Take Place Nationwide, Coalition Announces

AboutFace, Indivisible, MoveOn, National Iranian American Council, Win Without War Plan Events Nationwide Protesting Trump’s Assassination of Soleimani and Opposing Escalation of War with Iran

NATIONWIDE

A coalition of national grassroots groups has announced that Thursday, January 9, will be a nationwide day of grassroots action in opposition to escalation of war with Iran.

In the wake of the Trump administration's reckless assassination of Iranian General Soleimani, and threats to escalate conflict, activists carrying a "no war" message will urge restraint and that the United States avoid yet another unnecessary, costly war of choice in the Middle East.

Local actions, most of which will take place at 5 p.m. local time (though times may vary by event), will take different forms but will all focus on bringing visibility to anti-war demands, with participants holding signs that say "no war" and engaging in activities such as road-side "honk and waves."

The actions are being organized by a coalition of groups including AboutFace, Indivisible, MoveOn, the National Iranian American Council, and Win Without War.

The day of action hub page, where activists can sign up to host or join actions, and where the public will be able to see a nationwide map of planned actions, is www.nowarwithiran.org

Groups will be coordinating social media using the hashtag #NoWarWithIran.
