Women's Group To Christine Blasey Ford: We Have Your Back

UltraViolet demands Brett Kavanaugh withdraw his nomination for the Supreme Court immediately

WASHINGTON

In the piece, Ford described how Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed on her back and groped her over her clothes, and that when she tried to scream, Kavanaugh put his hand over her mouth. The Washington Post also details how Ford took a polygraph test administered by a former FBI agent in early August, on the recommendation of her lawyer. The results of the test, which were provided to The Washington Post, concluded that Ford was being truthful when she said a statement summarizing her allegations.

In reaction to the news, Shaunna Thomas, Executive Director and Co-founder of UltraViolet, a leading national women's group, issued the following statement, expressing support for Ford and calling on Kavanaugh to withdraw his nomination for the Supreme Court:

"We believe women and we believe Christine Blasey Ford.

"Ford has demonstrated tremendous courage in coming forward and sharing her story of how Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her. She is a hero and we have her back. We will not sit by and let Republicans attempt to undermine and defame her. We will hold anyone who attempts to discredit Ford accountable, and we will demand that all Senators take her story with the seriousness that it deserves."

"Ford's accusations against Brett Kavanaugh are deeply troubling and totally disqualifying. Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination immediately. Violence against women should have no place in our society and it certainly should have no place on the highest court in the nation."

UltraViolet is a powerful and rapidly growing community of people mobilized to fight sexism and create a more inclusive world that accurately represents all women, from politics and government to media and pop culture.
