Romney Pitches His Tent with Walker, Affirms His Support for the 1%

WASHINGTON

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) International President Mary Kay Henry issued the following statement regarding the Wisconsin GOP presidential primary:

"To win the Wisconsin primary, Mitt Romney pitched his tent with Gov. Scott Walker who authored the most anti-worker, anti-middle class legislation in Wisconsin's history and under whose watch, the state lost more jobs than any other state in the country.

"For working people in Wisconsin, Romney's allegiance with Walker and radicals such as Congressman Paul Ryan is an indication that the voices of working and middle-class people will be silenced in a Romney administration.

"By linking arms with Cong. Ryan - the author of a budget, by and for the 1 percent - Romney underscored that he caters to large corporations and the rich; sadly, at the expense of everyone else.

"Wisconsin voters will not forget who stands with them and represents their interests and who stands with someone that a majority of the state wants recalled.

"In November, working people will hold Romney accountable for failing to focus on the issues that voters care about most: protecting workers' right to a voice on the job, women's rights to quality healthcare and rebuilding the state and national economy so that it works for all people, not just the 1 percent."
