Congress Includes IMF Reforms in 'Omnibus' Budget Deal
WASHINGTON - The "Omnibus" budget package includes International Monetary Fund (IMF) voting reforms that awaited Congressional approval since 2010. The so-called "quota" reforms give emerging and developing countries increased voting power within the IMF governing structure.
Eric LeCompte, Executive Director of the religious development group Jubilee USA, releases the following statement:
"I applaud this bipartisan Congressional action that fosters greater participation for countries impacted by IMF decisions and policies.
"This is about fairness, inclusion and transparency."
