350.org US on Trump Administration Repealing Clean Water Protection Rules: "Elected Officials at Every Level Need to Step Up"

This comes a week before millions gear up for September 20th Global Climate Strikes and week of climate action through September 28th

WASHINGTON

This week, the Trump administration announced a repeal of clean water protections intended to limit pollution in our country's rivers, lakes, streams, and wetlands.

In response, Tamara Toles O'Laughlin, 350.org North America Director, emphasized the importance of joining the Climate Strikes next Friday, September 20:

"Water is life, and it's clear the Trump administration doesn't care about either. More than ever, cities, states, and elected officials at every level need to step up to deliver climate action at scale with the crisis. While Indigenous water protectors, and children, adults and elders within frontline communities build real solutions, Trump and fossil fuel polluters put us on a first-name basis with climate destruction: Dorian, Maria, Paradise, Sandy. The list goes on and on.

"Now, communities across the US -- from Minnesota to New Hampshire and beyond -- are gearing up to take escalated action to protect our water and halt toxic fossil fuel projects. And in exactly one week, millions of people, in 127 countries and in nearly 700 communities across America, will take part in the September 20th Global Climate Strikes, demanding transformative action at scale with the crisis from elected officials at all levels."

350 is building a future that's just, prosperous, equitable and safe from the effects of the climate crisis. We're an international movement of ordinary people working to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy for all.
