NAACP Statement on Mississippi ICE Raids

WASHINGTON - The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), America’s foremost civil rights organization, and the Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP released the following statement in response to the recent ICE raids in Mississippi ordered by President Donald Trump:

The Trump Administration’s decision to separate nearly 700 parents who are working and contributing to their communities from their children is horrific. It is the mark of an administration devoid of moral character. At a time when the President should be working to promote unity and heal division in our country, these raids will sow fear, pain, and discord across our already wounded country. Instead of ripping families apart, we should be providing opportunities for these hardworking individuals to earn a pathway to citizenship.
