The USGS says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 hit southwest Mexico today.
The United States Geological Survey says it was 10.9 miles deep and about 100 miles WSW of Oaxaca.
"There are no reports of serious damage by the quake," President Felipe Calderon wrote on his Twitter account.
President Obama's 13-year old daughter Malia is on a spring break vacation with her schoolmates in Oaxaca, near the epicenter of the quake. The White House says Malia is safe and was 'never in danger.'
