Stomach-Churning and Not Welcome: Telling It Like It Is
As Dems and news outlets hem and haw about how impeachable the Great Impostor's crimes are/aren't, the UK's Observer cuts to the God-awful chase on his upcoming visit there. Trump is "unfit," "unworthy," "a habitual liar who has presided over systemic illegality (and) a foul-mouthed culture of venality and vendettas," "a disgrace not welcome in Britain." US media, be like them. And Confucius: "The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name."

Justice For Lucca: This Is Your Country On Racist Brutality, Still
In this season of hope and renewal, see two white thugs/cops set upon a 15-year-old, backpack-wearing black boy - who did nothing but retrieve for safety the phone of another kid under assault - then pepper spray him, throw him to the ground, repeatedly punch and slam his head into the pavement, and handcuff the now-bleeding boy for- say what? - resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Nearby, kids scream, "What are you doing?!?," which is an excellent question.

This Blessed Plot, This Earth
This week, residents of a village in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula saw this exhausted, emaciated polar bear - a species some consider the poster child for climate change - prowling for food over 500 miles from its native habitat. With the Arctic warming, the ice receding, the seals slowly disappearing and the mindless cretins-in-charge eager to drill, enraged scientists ask, "At what point are we going to take climate change seriously?"

Still Doing The Job
Celebrating the tenacious work of journalists under "relentless assault," 2019 Pulitzers were awarded to three newsrooms documenting and enduring gun violence - the Parkland, Tree of Life and Capital Gazette shootings - and those exposing Trump's criminal enterprises and porn payoffs. A special, bittersweet award went to the Capital Gazette staff, who through horror, grief and fear, "just kept publishing."

The Workings Of Hate
Unimaginably, the lows go lower. In Texas, Laura Maradiaga, an 11-year-old girl who fled death threats in El Salvador with her terrified family, may be deported by herself thanks to an immigration court error, a pointless government shutdown, and the prevailing cruelty of the regime. Are we great yet? Nope, says Houston's police chief, who is as appalled as the rest of us. "Family values? American values? Judeo-Christian values?" he wrote. "The Nazis enforced their laws as well."

Stop Gun Violence How You Do It
Less than a month after just one mass shooting, New Zealand's Parliament voted 119-1 Wednesday to ban most military style assault rifles and semiautomatic weapons in the most sweeping changes to the country's gun laws in decades. The measure, passed after a white supremacist killed 50 people and wounded dozens more at two mosques in Christchurch, also includes a buyback program of existing weapons; lawbreakers can face a prison term of up to five years. During an expedited debate that swooped right past the proverbial, meaningless thoughts and prayers crap, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke tearfully of the traumatic injuries of victims she visited in the hospital, noting that in every case they described "multiple, debilitating injuries," and never mind the psychic toll. "These weapons were designed to kill, and they were designed to maim, and that is what they did on the 15th of March," she said. "I could not fathom how weapons that can cause such destruction and large-scale death could be obtained legally in this country.” Even before the changes, though, her country's laws were much stricter than those in our own blood-soaked nation, which boasts the weakest gun laws in the developed world and, less than...

Let Freedom Ring
It was 80 years ago that acclaimed contralto Marian Anderson took the resolute stage before 75,000 people on the National Mall, overseen by Abraham Lincoln, in an outdoor concert deemed a seminal moment in the civil rights movement. Barred from Constitution Hall by the DAR because she was black, she was introduced by Interior Secretary Harold Ickes, who told the rare-for-the-times multiracial crowd, "In this great auditorium under the sky, all of us are free...Genius draws no color lines."

On Toddler Torturers: There Are Some Lines That Simply Can't Be Crossed
Secretary of Cruelty Nielsen is out, also the Secret Service chief and others dubbed not Nazi enough in a Miller-staged purge at an increasingly depraved Homeland Security obsessed with keeping out poor brown people. The civilized consensus: Nielsen should be locked in one of her frigid hieleras, or at least be locked out of think tanks and Fortune 500 firms, because people who put kids in cages and commit crimes against humanity "should be shunned and excluded from polite society."

Monsters Inc: They Treated Us Like We Were Animals
The clown-in chief just visited the border, where he spewed a rancid mix of lies and threats, telling brown people "the country is full" and we should end the asylum "scam." Too bad he missed the ghastly deaths in U.S. custody of Felipe Gómez Alonzo , 8, and Jakelin Caal Maquin, 7, whose autopsies this week said they both died of bacterial infections - easily treated with antibiotics. Over 20 more people have died in custody from neglect. FYI evil clown dude: That's your emergency.

J Is For Jenius, But What About The Windmills and Oringes?
We can't even. If you've wisely stayed in your cave of late, the stable genius just threatened to get rid of judges, said his father was born in Germany, claimed the noise of windmills cause cancer, promised a health care plan that doesn't exist, warned he'll close the border even if it wrecks the economy, and ranted about needing to find the oranges of the Mueller probe. Today we don't care if he's evil or an idiot or has Alzheimers/ dementia. For the love of God we just want it to be over.
