  • Douglas A. Medina is Assistant Professor of Social and Political Sciences at CUNY's Guttman Community College. He is currently working on a book that examines two moments of struggle at CUNY through the lens of political economy: the takeover of parts of City College in 1969, leading to the Open Admissions policy in 1970; and the fiscal crisis of New York City, leading to the imposition of tuition for undergraduate students in 1976.
