Donatella della Porta

Donatella della Porta is professor of Sociology at the European University Institute, where she directs the Centre on Social Movement Studies (Cosmos). She has directed the Demos project, devoted to the analysis of conceptions and practices of democracy in social movements in six European countries. She is also author of several books on social movements, violence and democracy including "Globalization from Below: Transnational Activists and Protest Networks" and "Social Movements in Times of Austerity: Bringing Capitalism Back Into Protest Analysis."
