Bought and Paid For: We Are Well and Truly Done With Susan Collins
Huh. Turns out Susan Collins' betrayal of women and decency - aka her vote for drunken liar, frat boy and sexual assaulter Brett Kavanaugh after ignoring months of heartfelt pleas and protests by us, her alleged constituents - netted her a cool $1.8 million, or the most blood-money she's ever raised. Just $19,000 of that came from Mainers, with most from Brett's sketchy fans. Now we have $3.8 million to elect someone with a spine, and Collins, please God, will be gone girl.

More Words
If you understandably stayed hunkered in your cave last night, the non-news is the idiot monster read some words at us. Immigrants: bad. Jobs: good. Socialism: even more bad. Accountability: meh. What climate change? Lie lie lie. Children: good, except the ones we ripped from their families and put in cages. Walls: they work, especially this border collie one. Van Jones best summarized the bullshit: "A psychotically incoherent speech with cookies and dog poop."

Get Them Rags Off: From Slavery Onward, A Black Woman’s Body Was Never Hers Alone
To mark Black History Month and the birthday of Rosa Parks - "The only tired I was, was tired of giving in" - we honor Recy Taylor, the young black mother abducted and gang raped in 1944 Alabama by six white boys who were never indicted. Taylor was one of too many unnamed, unheard black women victimized in the Jim Crow South by a common "weapon of terror." But uncommonly, she spoke up. Her rape prompted an NAACP campaign for justice led by a tough women's rights activist - Rosa Parks.

Of Course Your Neckwear Is Crucial: What To Wear For Your Arraignment
Making the most of his gaudy moment in the sun, grifter, liar, co-conspirator, and Nixonian "dirty trickster" Roger Stone made a weird Daily Caller video to explain his fashion choices for court, offering smug riffs on shirt, suit, cuff links, pocket square - never mind he's "dirt poor" from Mueller's "inquisition." Maybe the judge's threat of a gag order - "This is a criminal proceeding, not a public relations campaign" - will wipe that smirk off his showboating face.

Assassins: Israeli Soldiers Just "Neutralized" A "Female Terrorist," aka A 16-Year-Old Palestinian Schoolgirl Going Home
In their latest atrocity among too many, Israeli forces shot and killed Samah Zuhair Mubarak, 16, at a West Bank checkpoint on her way home from school. Officials say Mubarak tried to stab a security officer - as proof, they helpfully posted a random picture of a small knife - after which “a rapid response by additional security forces brought about her neutralization." Mubarak, who received no first aid, was just one of Israel's grievous victims this week. They all had, and deserve, names.

Whose Beach? Our Beach
For all you naysayers who think the Trump shutdown accomplished nada except wreaking havoc on those who could least afford it, one indisputable benefit: Lacking strict adult supervision, about 60 rogue elephant seals took over a Northern California stretch of beach usually reserved for bipeds. After knocking down a fence, the seals, with 35 newly radicalized pups, now blithely lounge at Point Reyes National Seashore - proving, says one fan, "Mother Nature bats last."

Ignore the Moron: We're All Gonna Die
In a vital antidote to the "staggering moron" who just urged global waming (sic) "to come back fast," Extinction Rebellion held their first American event, a march and hour-glass-shaped die-in at NYC's Rockefeller Center skating rink dubbed "Rebellion Day 1." The kick-off toward an international week of action in April, the protest was a reminder that time is running out on climate change, said one organizer: “We are all going to die, and we need to shout it from the rooftops.”

An Affront To Justice
Amidst our grim, slow slide into a police state where almost no one is safe comes a new report that ICE arrests of undocumented immigrants at once-sacrosanct courthouses just in New York state have risen a staggering 1,700% since Trump's coronation. The report from the nonprofit Immigrant Defense Project tells horrific stories of often already victimized people being dragged, tricked, tackled and brutalized by thugs of the state rapidly turning "courts into traps."

La Madre Buena (The Good Mother)
For a five-minute, heart-lifting hiatus from the madness, see this sweet film about a resolute Mexican mother who is clear on our president - "He is the devil" - but who loves her son enough to give him the birthday present he wants. Her epic trek, geographically and politically, features strong women, gorgeous country and the giddy decimation of a piñata just pleading, nay damn near demanding, to be punched.

The Fierce Urgency of Now
Oh, the gobsmacking tone-deafness of court clowns and grifters, from Kudlow's praise of workers "volunteering" for love of their fuhrer to Ross' bafflement that workers are going hungry from a mere "liquidity crisis." One proposal: When workers run out of food, they eat the rich. Another from the head of the flight attendants union: a general strike. In a scorching speech, she cited Dr. King's call to "stand up for freedom together,” insisting, "Labor can lead the way."
