Rick Steiner is a conservation biologist in Anchorage and a retired professor of marine conservation with the University of Alaska. As founder of Oasis Earth, he has worked with governments, the UN, IUCN, and NGOs around the world on environmental issues. Specifically on war and environment issues, he advised the Lebanese government on environmental issues during the 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel, has given presentations at The Hague, advised stakeholders on oil spills and violence in Nigeria’s Niger Delta, and advised on environmental impacts of violence in many other countries.
