Maria J. Stephan
Maria J. Stephan is a senior policy fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace and a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. She is the co-author of "Why Civil Resistance Works: The Strategic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict." Formerly she served as director of policy and research at the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict and as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and American University.
