Campaigners tell Biden's new Interior Secretary to undo the attack on Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante.

The department said the new unit will "put the full weight of the federal government into investigating these cases and marshal law enforcement resources across federal agencies and throughout Indian country."

"We call on President Biden to keep his promise: a full and complete ban on fracking and fossil fuel extraction on public lands. Full stop."

One campaigner called her confirmation "a tremendous win for Indigenous communities, the waters, parks, and lands across our country, and the climate."

The Senate majority leader said he "just filed cloture to move ahead" with the New Mexico congresswoman's nomination.

The West Virginia Democrat's announcement signals a key hurdle for her confirmation as secretary is cleared.
