Youth Groups Oppose Privatization of Social Security
WASHINGTON - June 24 - News Advisory:

Who: Hans Riemer, 2030 Center Director
Chris Cuomo, 2030 Center Board Member

When: Wednesday, July 1

Where: Cranston, R.I., and Providence, R.I.

What: Riemer and Cuomo will be available to the media for commentary and interviews about how the various Social Security reform and privatization plans affect young Americans.

The 2030 Center has developed a plan to save Social Security's guaranteed lifetime benefits and provide Americans with a new opportunity to save for their retirement. This plan would cost less in increased taxes and benefit cuts that would any proposal to privatize Social Security.

The 2030 Center has organized an alliance of some of the nation's largest and most significant youth organizations that has called upon Congress and the president to support guaranteed retirement security for future generations. The alliance will educate thousands of young people across the country about this important issue.

The 2030 Center is an action tank founded and run by young leaders dedicated to economic security for all Americans. The 2030 Center's goal is to build a stronger voice for young people in politics and to win real improvements in young people's lives through research and advocacy on critical issues of public policy. The 2030 Center has appeared frequently on national print, television and radio media.
