People's Action Welcomes WFP's Sanders Endorsement

People's Action cheered today's decision by the Working Families Party to endorse Bernie Sanders for president.

WASHINGTON

People's Action cheered today's decision by the Working Families Party to endorse Bernie Sanders for president.

"The multiracial working class is united behind Bernie Sanders," said Rosemary Rivera, co-director of People's Action organization Citizen Action of New York. "The Working Families Party has leveraged their power to put progressives in office all over the country. They provided serious muscle on behalf of Elizabeth Warren's campaign and we at Citizen Action of New York supported them in that. Their endorsement of Sanders is game-changing, unifying, and healing."

Rivera noted that WFP's endorsement puts to rest any questions as to whether the progressive wing of the party would unite behind Sanders after Warren's exit from the race.

"The question for voters in the March 10 primary states is simple: Whose side are you on?" Ryan Greenwood, People's Actions Director of Movement Politics said. "Joe Biden has been on the side of the credit card companies and NAFTA backers. Bernie Sanders is on the side of the multiracial working class. WFP's endorsement provides powerful momentum behind him as we head into the next round of votes."

People's Action endorsed Sanders in December 2019.

People's Action builds the power of poor and working people, in rural, suburban, and urban areas to win change through issue campaigns and elections.
