Millennial Women Conduct Sit-In at RNC HQ, Demand Ryan & Priebus Un-Endorse Trump

20 women risk arrest outside RNC with the group #AllofUs2016

WASHINGTON - After RNC Chairman Reince Priebus’ announcement yesterday that the RNC will continue to back Donald Trump, and just 28 days ahead of the 2016 presidential election, a multiracial group of 20 millennials conducted a sit-in inside the RNC headquarters. The young women demanded that Chairman Priebus and Speaker Paul Ryan un-endorse Donald Trump and disavow the GOP’s politics of hate for the sake of women, democracy, and our country.

“Paul Ryan has said he can no longer defend Trump. But how can Ryan and Priebus continue to endorse the indefensible?” asked #AllofUs2016 leader, 26-year old Yong Jung Cho. “The young women sitting in today are acting with more courage than selfish and cowardly Republican leaders who are putting women and our democracy at risk.”

This is the third major event organized by the #AllofUs2016 campaign. 12 millennials were arrested during their campaign kick-off, a civil disobedience action at Speaker Paul Ryan's office. The group demanded that Ryan disavow Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s history of dog whistle racism that led to Trump’s rise.

“Millennial women won’t tolerate Trump’s disgusting and dangerous sexism,” said 24-year old #AllofUs2016 leader Natalie Green. “Chairman Priebus and Speaker Ryan must un-endorse Donald Trump, otherwise the Republican Party is just another place where ‘locker room talk’ demeaning women is acceptable for millions of men across the country.”

The group #AllofUs2016 will mobilize Millennials to vote for Hillary Clinton by asking young people to vote with #AllofUs2016. The group does not believe Clinton will solve the problems of their generation, but they will vote for her because she is the only one on the ballot who can defeat Donald Trump.

“We know that Donald Trump’s dangerous sexism and racism are not an aberration,” said 23-year old #AllofUs2016 leader Ambar Pinto. “When confronted about sexism and sexual assault, Trump began fear-mongering about Muslims and the specter of ISIS. This is what the GOP always does. They support sexist and racist policies through a narrative of hate and fear to divide the American people from each other.”

On election day, millennials will turn out to the polls with #AllofUs2016 in full force to give Clinton the margin of victory she needs. After the election, #AllofUs2016 will work to hold Clinton and other Wall Street Democrats accountable to their generation as they work toward an America that works for all of us.
