Tell Congress: Put Taxes on the Table
WASHINGTON - June 7 - Please take 5 minutes and tell Congress to put revenue on the table: Raise Taxes on Millionaires and Corporate Tax Dodgers.
Call this Toll-Free Number to be connected to your member of Congress: 888-907-1485.
This week marks the 10th anniversary of the Bush Tax Cuts that cost over $2.5 trillion, most of which went to superrich.
Republican leaders in Congress want to reduce deficits with spending cuts that would devastate the economy, the middle class, seniors, children and low-income families. But House Speaker John Boehner says increasing taxes is “off the table.”
Meanwhile, corporate tax dodgers like General Electric are paying zero taxes. Congress gives billions in subsidies a year to oil and gas companies like ExxonMobil. And millionaires are paying the lowest percentage of their income in actual taxes since the 1920s.
Tell Congress: No budget cuts until millionaires and corporations pay their fair share.
- Let the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy expire in 2012
- Raise tax rates on millionaires and billionaires through the Fairness in Taxation Act (HR 1124)
- Eliminate subsidies for the oil and gas industry.
- Eliminate tax breaks for corporate tax dodgers like General Electric
Call this Toll-Free number 888-907-1485. We’ll connect you to your member of Congress’s office:
When you reach your legislators’ office, tell the receptionist you’d like to speak with the staff person who handles tax and budget issues. When you are finished, call back again for each of your two Senators. If you call after hours, leave a message.
