Stand Against Union-Busting
WASHINGTON - On Wednesday night, Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate rammed a union-busting bill through the Senate. The bill is opposed by 74 percent of Wisconsin citizens and has inspired protests throughout the nation.
"Gov. Scott Walker and Republicans in the Wisconsin Senate have given their corporate backers exactly what they asked for, at the expense of the working people of Wisconsin," said Michael Keegan, President of People For the American Way. "What's more, they have done it by ignoring the will of the people, and ignoring the law. Right-wing politicians across the country are now trying to follow Walker's example and make working Americans pay for massive giveaways to corporations and the wealthy. We can't let them prevail.
"We must stand with the people of Wisconsin as they recall the senators who are stripping workers of their rights. An assault on working people in Wisconsin is an assault on all working Americans. It's time to say a resounding 'no' to union busting."
