July 25-Global Day of Action for Iran in New York

85 cities and counting, Peace Leaders, Artists and Organizations* *Join Worldwide New Media Driven Movement* *in Solidarity with Iranian People

NEW YORK - On July 25th in more than 80 cities worldwide, Nobel Laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Shirin Ebadi, Jody Williams, Betty Williams, Mairead Maguire, Adolfo Perez Esquivel, Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Wangari Maathal, Lord David Trimble, Kim Dae-jung, joined by Dolores Huerta, Sean Penn, Dariush, Simin Behbahani, Ismael Khoie, 43 Arab Human Rights Organizations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, FIDH, International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Nobel Women’s Initiative, Peacejam, Reporters without Borders and hundreds of thousands of citizens around the globe will stand in solidarity with the Iranian people’s human and civil rights.

We know that those who strive for freedom are on the winning side. As part of the Global Day of Action, New Yorkers will gather at Times Square (42nd Street and 7th Ave) at 12:30 pm for a rally and march to the United Nations building (47th Street and 1st Ave.) where the rally will continue. The march will include stops at the Iranian Mission to the Untied Nation and the South African Mission to the United Nation. Rallies will include speeches Ken Roth (Executive Director of Human Rights Watch), Mansour Farhang (former Iranian representative to the United Nations), Tala Dowlatshahi (Senior Advisor and Spokesperson Reporters Without Borders USA), Medhi Saharkheez (son of Issa Saharkheez detained Iranian journalist) and Hamid Dabashi (Columbia University Professor). Rallies will also feature musical performances by the Freedom Glory Project and Fared Shafinury).
