Poland banned the cultivation of genetically modified corn and potatoes on Wednesday, Agence France-Presse is reporting. The agency reports that while Prime Minister Donald Tusk felt "lawmakers had been forced to pass the blanket approval for GM crops," a loophole allowed the country to ban the specific strains of German agricultural giant BASF's Amflora strain of potato and Monsanto's MON 810 corn.
