House Minority Leader John Boehner vowed Wednesday that Republicans will not "compromise on our principles" if they win the majority.

A GOP House could still be up against a Democratic Senate as well as President Barack Obama in the White House. Some analysts predict that divided government will lead to more compromise, but in an interview with Sean Hannity on the conservative's radio show, Boehner said that wouldn't necessarily be the case.

"This is not a time for compromise, and I can tell you that we will not compromise on our principles," Boehner said.

The Ohio Republican said the GOP would work with Obama "to the extent the president wants to work with us, in terms of our goals."

"We'd welcome his involvement," Boehner said of the president, who has recently made conciliatory moves.

As for the Obama's own agenda, the Boehner promised, "We're going to do everything - and I mean everything we can do - to kill it, stop it, slow it down, whatever we can."

Boehner's comments come as a number of polls show that while Republicans are surging, voters have yet to fully embrace their agenda.

A Bloomberg poll out Thursday showed that voters are either split or opposed to a number of Republican proposals. Only 31 percent of those polled said they would support cuts to federal spending on health care and education.

The poll also showed voters are split on whether Obama's economic policies need more time, or if complete change is needed in the government's approach to aiding the economy.
