Four Aurora, Colorado cops and sick fucks just got fired for thinking it was hilarious to replicate choking Elijah McClain to death, taking photos, and passing them around, including to one fellow cop "to cheer him up" - a grisly move McClain's family compared to proud mobs taking souvenir photos of their Jim Crow lynchings - because apparently, still and all, nothing says good times like murdering innocent black people. The photos were taken last October, at the site of McClain's murder, as three officers happily reenacted the chokehold that killed him. On Friday, Interim Police Chief Vanessa Wilson announced the firings, saying she was "disgusted" by photos she called "a crime against humanity and decency.” She fired Erica Marrero and Kyle Kittrich, two of three subjects in the photo; the center cop, Jaron Jones, had resigned the day before, but his record will show he would have been terminated and he won't be able to re-join any Colorado police force. Also fired was Jason Rosenblatt, one of Elijah's killers, who was sent the photos and texted back, "Ha ha." "He is being fired for (his) utter inability to do the right thing," said Wilson, who said of all four, "They don't deserve to wear a badge anymore."

Given McClain's death was covered up for a year, Wilson conceded, "We've made a lot of mistakes," but she argued the firings show "the culture has been reset." Not so fast, retorted the head of the police union, who grotesquely whined the terminations are "a rush to judgment" that in multiple ways - cops "were ordered to give interviews on very short notice, without proper preparation," cop-ese for they didn't have time to get their stories straight - "violated the officers' due process," definitely not an issue for Elijah McClain. Later Friday, McCain's family and community members gathered to express their outrage and declare, "There will be no more excuses." McClain attorney Mari Newman on Aurora police: "This is a department of police who tackled (Elijah) and inflicted fifteen minutes (of) carotid chokeholds, who stood over him joking, 'Don't get that on me' while he was vomiting from the pain, who threatened to sic a dog on him because he wasn't lying still enough while dying. This a department that exonerated all of the officers who killed Elijah and those who failed to intervene...This is a department where (officers made) a mockery of killing an innocent young man, taking reenactment photos at the site where he was murdered. This is a department that is rotten to the core.” From sea to shining sea. Defund.
