Poor Susan Collins. In a Politico story, Maine's fake moderate and two-faced rape apologist says she's "sad" she's lost so much support for her inexcusable decision to ignore months of fierce pleas and protests from constituents and vote to put drunk, liar, hack and sexual assaulter Brett Kavanaugh on our highest court, thus threatening reproductive rights for millions of women - a move she has the chutzpah to call voting "with integrity and independence." Say what? The word "integrity" is fetid coming from the deeply duplicitous Collins: For years, she's made a hollow show of politely waffling on issues before voting with evil and her grotesque party 87% of the time, from supporting the tax scam to voting to confirm dozens of anti-choice judges to easing Betsy DeVos into power to supporting Mitch 'Grim Reaper' McConnell to literally fleeing calls for gun control while making smarmy visits to pie companies. Her final betrayal, of course, was her "astonishingly hypocritical" speech to confirm sneering, crying, black-out frat-boy Kavanaugh, mind-bogglingly praising him as "an exemplary public servant, judge, teacher, coach, husband, and father” and proving herself to be the partisan hack we all knew her to be.
Now, facing re-election and seeing her approval plummet from 78% to 45%, Collins seems confounded voters have the gall to hold her accountable for her catastrophic actions. "Have I lost some votes because of my decision to support Justice Kavanaugh? Yes, I have," she told Politico, adding she's "sad about that" because she explained her "decision-making" - ie: she was “disturbed” by the furious opposition of sexual assault victims, who she suggests were maybe a tad hysterical. “We must always remember," she declaimed, "it is when passions are most inflamed that fairness is most in jeopardy.” Give us a break. Having insisted for months - fake news! - that many Mainers approved of her vote and never mind all the DumpSusanCollins noise, she claims "there still is an appreciation in Maine for someone (who) votes with integrity and independence." Still, she whines, "It's never enough. For those who truly hate the president, I'm never going to be able to do enough for them. I get tired of the 'she speaks but doesn't act.'" Yeah, we do too. Especially now that Dems only have to flip three seats to take the Senate, and Collins' is one of the most attainable. A crowdfunding effort after her Kavanaugh vote swiftly raised $4 million for her unnamed Democratic challenger. Now they have names: Sarah Gideon and Betsy Sweet. Act, don't just speak, so Collins can go down in history as "the bitch who could have stopped Roe from being overturned and didn't."
