Assassins: Israeli Soldiers Just "Neutralized" A "Female Terrorist," aka A 16-Year-Old Palestinian Schoolgirl Going Home

In their latest atrocity among too many to count or evidently acknowledge in the media, Israeli forces shot and killed Samah Zuhair Mubarak, 16, at al-Zaayim checkpoint in the occupied West Bank as she walked home from school Wednesday. Israel claims Mubarak tried to stab a security officer, after which “a rapid response by additional security forces brought about her neutralization with no injuries to the security personnel.” To bolster their narrative of a "female terrorist," officials posted a random picture of a small, pretty kitchen knife they said they found at the scene - they uncovered only schoolbooks in her back pack - and helpfully noted many knife attacks, especially by women, stem from personal issues and essentially constitute "suicide by cop."

Blurry video shows Mubarak, dressed all in black, approach the checkpoint; after a few moments of indistinct movement, she falls to the ground. She received no medical attention; video captures soldiers milling around and one handcuffing her as she lay incapacitated. Some Palestinian observers believe soldiers demanded she take off her veil, she refused, and they shot her. Her family says they still don't know what happened at the checkpoint, though afterwards soldiers interrogated her father. “Samah has a childish personality," said her uncle. "She has no extremist thought, she comes from a religious family...and she would not do what Israel claims.”

Mubarak is the third Palestinian child killed by Israeli forces since the start of 2019, and just one grievous victim among many of the Occupation's persistent human rights violations in the Occupied Territories. This week, Israeli soldiers shot and critically wounded at least three Palestinian schoolchildren for no discernible reason, and Israeli settlers attacked a West Bank village, in the back Hamdi Taleb Na'san, a Palestinian father of four young children; one PLO official called the murder "a natural outcome of the culture of hate (and) incitement" promoted by the right-wing Israeli government.

Five Israeli soldiers have also been indicted on charges they badly beat two Palestinian prisoners, father and son suspects in an earlier attack, as they were being driven in handcuffs to an Israeli army base. The Israelis reportedly pummelled them with fists and sharp objects; they removed the son's blindfold and demanded he watch as they broke his father's ribs and nose. The indictment notes the soldiers recorded the assault, and can be heard whooping with joy. In their defense, military lawyers argued the soldiers arresting the two suspects had been put in "an impossible situation." To be clear: Samah Zuhair Mubarak, and a multitude of other Palestinian victims, are the ones in "an impossible situation." They all had, and deserve, names, and justice.
