Sign worn by one clown in Virginia: “If attacked by a mob of clowns, go for the juggler."
The plaintive immigrant kids incarcerated in cages have moved Indecline, a fearless activist artists' collective, to create their latest furious work of resistance, transforming a California billboard for junk removal into a blast at the evils of ICE. Thus does the original "We make junk disappear - 1-800-GOT-JUNK" sign become, "We make kids disappear" - ICE." As with all actions by Indecline, who do not fool around, they include a bonus: A brief, entertaining video of the work in progress.
Earlier projects include naked Trump statues in New York, trenchant murals in Flint and Tijuana, Black Lives Matter icons on Hollywood's Walk of Fame, Ku Klux Klowns strung from a tree in Virginia after Charlottesville, a Grave New World cemetery installation on a Trump golf course to mourn what he's killed - decency, the last snowman, "those bootstraps they keep talking about" after the tax giveaway - and a people's prison cell for Donnie in one of his own Trump Hotel rooms, complete with live rats and a blood-red sign warning, "Rats will eat anything, even their Rat King." We can only hope. Until then, we salute Indecline.
