This week saw both more achingly quotidian crimes against African-Americans - cops called for Shopping/Napping/Airbnbing While Black - and, aptly mirroring them, the release of the searing video "This Is America” by actor, producer, and musician Donald Glover, who raps under the moniker Childish Gambino. A dark, deep, artful, haunting look at black life, death, culture, complicity, oppression and history from Jim Crow to Black Lives Matter, it's garnered over 55 million views and almost as many interpretations.
