Full disclosure: We didn't watch The Speech. We just couldn't stomach the spectacle of that cretinous shitgibbon lying and smirking and babbling and being praised - oh country of the sorry low bar - for reading sentences off a screen and not grabbing any pussy on the way out. This is of course just our roiling gut level response. There are many worthy others - fact-checking, straight-faced, gag-worthy, truth-telling, riotous, and sickened by the unconscionable exploitation on display. We know only that those of good will and sound mind must keep fighting. And may God, Bowie, Karl and Groucho Marx and the Sisters of Mercy bless these once-and-perhaps-once- again shining United States.

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do.
