After 16 years of truth-telling, Jon Stewart's final Daily Show was alternately caustic, touching and rowdy as he brought out scores of cameo stars, former targets and clearly-much-loved co-conspirators, the last of whom, Stephen Colbert, delivered an ad-hoc heartfelt tribute that brought Stewart to tears. Fittingly, he ended with an impassioned call for ongoing vigilance against the kind of omnipresent bullshit - eg: "Patriot Act" for "Are You Scared Enough to Let Me Look at All of Your Phone Records Act" - practised by so many of the political, corporate and media powers he long lampooned. “Whenever something’s been titled Freedom Family Fairness Health America, take a good long sniff,”  he said. "If you smell something, say something." We'll miss him.
