Agh! Zombie Isis Mass Murderers With Ebola Are Flooding Across the Rio Grande From Gitmo To Get You So Vote Republican!

When bereft of ideas,  go with fear. Thus has the GOP launched a deranged new ad designed to scare the crap out of you by mashing up all the currently available ingredients of xenophobic racist hysteria - Mexicans, terrorists, Ebola-ridden jihadists, oh my - into a nice juicy stew that blames the Democrats for letting all these brown and otherwise diseased people try to destroy our fine exceptional country and urges us to vote for them so we won't all die, like, tomorrow. The ad shows a nice white guy watching a nice flat-screen teevee - which will also, mark our words, be obliterated - that raves, "ISIS gaining ground. Terrorists committing mass murder. Ebola inside the U.S. Americans alarmed about national security" before arguing that all Obama (pictured before a blood-spattered wall) is doing about it all is "making plans to bring terrorists from Guantanamo to our country" because, well, you know, Kenya. It ends with, "Vote to keep terrorists off U.S. soil."

This election season, fear-mongering from the right has ranged from serious lies, racism and disenfranchisement efforts to a host of smaller, dumber conceits: See Colbert eviscerate Pennsylvania's Gov. Tom Corbett for his now infamous photoshopping of a nice black lady to pretend that people of color like him. And God knows many Democratic pols and policies are as deeply flawed. Still, for those who argue there's no substantive difference between the often deadly nonsense perpetrated by these two corporate monoliths so why bother - which is sometimes true and sometimes not - it's important to focus on those most affected by this election's outcome, who are probably not you. With lives in the balance, argues Bill Moyers, "Don't them silence you. Vote, dammit."
