Today's SCOTUS ruling against Massachusetts buffer zones around abortion clinics - take note: a ruling issued from within SCOTUS' own legally protected buffer zone - has met with swift outrage from pro-choice forces appalled that the court took seriously the "pro-life" argument that their self-dubbed "gentle...sidewalk counselors" merely want to "engage in personal, caring, consensual conversations with women about various alternatives." In fact, many advocates of the right to abortion noted, ungentle protesters regularly pray loudly, throw ketchup-for-blood, hurl "Murderer!" charges, chalk guns on sidewalks, shriek "Diablo!" at brown-skinned women and otherwise threaten and intimidate already-pained women approaching clinics; they have also been guilty of 8 murders, 17 attempted murders, 383 death threats, 153 incidents of assault or battery, 3 kidnappings, 41 bombings, 173 arsons, 91 attempted bombings or arsons, 619 bomb threats, 1,630 incidents of trespassing and 1,264 incidents of vandalism. Under the quickly created Twitter hashtags #NotCounseling and #ClinicEscort, pro-choice women offered a frightful litany of other abuses they've suffered or witnessed at the hands of fanatics now enjoying more legal protection than their victims. Perhaps it's time, suggests The Rude Pundit, for the harassers to get a taste of their own tactics.
