Police in Hearne, Texas say officer Steven Stem fired at least five shots at and killed 93-year-old Pearlie 'Miss Sully' Golden after she came out to her yard waving a gun - aka "brandishing a firearm" - evidently because she was some pissed her nephew wanted to take away her car keys after she failed a driving test. Neighbors are doubly upset because Stern also shot and killed a young (black) man in 2012 under questionable circumstances, confirming their long-held belief that local police "are going to do what they want to do." At a vigil held for Golden, who everyone considered family and called Miss Sully, the head of their Next Generation community group noted, "I don't think they would have shot a white 93-year-old woman." 'Nuff said. Stern is on paid administrative leave pending the results of an investigation. Maybe after that the police in Hearne - nay, the police in friggin' every town in oh-so-clearly-non-post-racial America- might try some decent training?
