Small Shelter From the Storm

Inspired by the ingenuity of the homeless around him in Oakland, CA., artist Gregory Lincoln Kloehn decided to try building a house from scrap and trash, just like they do. It came out pretty nice. Now he makes them - putting them on wheels to make 'em moveable - and gives them away, as well as running workshops to teach others to build more. He also outfitted a former dumpster for himself that's a marvel of engineering. Kloehn knows he's not solving homelessness. He's just offering a rare, rich, dry sliver of hope, and ease.
