A Distinction Without A Difference: Koch Bros Work to Distance Themselves From The (Unpopular, Expensive Etc) Shutdown They Orchestrated

Abby Zimet

With the shutdown proving predictably disastrous, polls and media reports slamming the GOP and Harry Reid calling them out on "spending hundreds of millions of dollars to get us to where we are right now,” the Koch Brothers have brought denial to a new jaw-dropping level by writing to Congress to "set the record straight" and insist they haven't lobbied legislators, given over $235 million to Americans for Prosperity, Tea Party Patriots and other right-wing groups pushing to defund the Affordable Care Act or otherwise "taken a position" on how it would be cool to force a government shutdown and possible default by refusing to fund the evil concept of providing health insurance to people who need it - an intriguing argument given extensive documention proving that, actually, they did. The inimitable Bernie Sanders has more on their cowardice and lies.
