Cobert brought us a welcome taste of good cheer with his brilliant profile of Johnny Cummings, the gay mayor of the Kentucky coal town of Vicco, population 334, which this winter became the smallest town in America to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, "real or perceived" because it was "the right thing to do." Want hope? Watch the town's police chief defend his best bud Mayor Johnny, who is also the town's hairdresser. Great stuff.
