A reminder that the historic SCOTUS ruling on DOMA was not just a legal, moral and cultural big deal, but a financial one as well. Within hours of the ruling, the Pentagon, State Department and other federal agencies quickly moved to extend benefits to same-sex partners, and analysts estimated other same-sex couples will save millions. Meanwhile, Democrats ripped GOP leadership for wasting millions to save DOMA, citing Congressional Budget Office estimates that repealing it would reduce the deficit by $450 million a year or save taxpayers up to $10 billion.
